Your questions

Found in a crowded capital.

Why isn’t my business showing up on Google in Cardiff?

Because Google shows the businesses that best match the search, are nearest the person searching and are best known, and Cardiff has more businesses than any other council area in Wales: 12,120 registered for VAT or PAYE. Distance is not yours to change; the match is. That means your profile’s categories as specific as your business allows, and a site that says what you do and which part of the city you serve, Canton, Roath or the Bay. The audit checks both.

How do I get my business to the top of Google in Cardiff?

Nobody can put you there: Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. What Google does say is that businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local results, so the work is a profile with nothing missing and a website that agrees with it. The audit checks both, and lists what is missing or inconsistent.

Do Google reviews help a Cardiff business get found?

Google says they can: more reviews and positive ratings can help a business’s local ranking, and replying to reviews shows customers you value their feedback. The audit looks at whether your reviews are answered. It never writes, buys or asks for reviews on your behalf.

Is my website good enough to stand out in Cardiff?

It is if a stranger on a phone can tell from the first screen what you do, which part of Cardiff you serve and how to get in touch, without hunting. Someone comparing several businesses has little reason to stay on the vague one. The audit goes through your site on a phone as a customer would, and checks it from a search engine’s and an AI assistant’s side too.

What to fix first
The changes that matter most, in the order we would make them.
  • Where we meet is decided once a time is set, and agreed by email. There is no office to invite you to, so none is published.

  • You keep the written audit, whatever you decide. Nothing to buy and nothing to sign.

  • Online is always there instead, wherever you are in the UK, and the audit is the same either way.

For Cardiff businesses

What decides it, and what you control.

Cardiff has more businesses than any other council area in Wales, so most searches there have plenty of answers. Google says it ranks local results by relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is not yours to change; the audit looks at what is: whether your profile and your site say exactly what you do, and where in the city.

Being found in Google’s map results needs a Google Business Profile. Google ranks those results by how well a profile matches the search, how far the business is from the person searching and how well known it is. A website alone cannot put you there, so the audit looks at your profile as well as your site, and says so if you have none.Google: tips to improve your local ranking
